Cookie Policy
What cookies and similar technologies NOWScale uses, why they are used, how long they last, and how to control or refuse them.
This Cookie Policy explains how NOWScale LLC (“NOWScale”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites and in the NOWScale platform. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally, including the rights available to you.
1. What these technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, the browser sends it back, which lets the site recognise the session and remember state. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies; those set by another domain loaded within the page are third-party cookies.
We use “cookies” in this policy as shorthand for a family of similar technologies, including:
- Local and session storage— browser storage used to hold preferences, draft state and cached data. It is not sent with every request the way a cookie is, and is cleared through your browser’s site data controls.
- Pixels and web beacons — tiny transparent images or script tags used to record that a page was loaded or an email opened.
- Software development kits (SDKs) — vendor code embedded in our product that can read or set identifiers.
- Device and browser characteristics — attributes such as screen size, language and user agent, which can be combined into an identifier. We use these for security and fraud prevention rather than for advertising.
Cookies are either session cookies, which expire when you close the browser, or persistent cookies, which remain until they expire or you delete them.
2. Categories of cookies we use
The table below sets out the categories we use and typical examples in each. It describes the purpose and expected lifetime of each category rather than claiming a level of precision we have not verified.

3. First-party and third-party cookies
First-party cookies are set by NOWScaledomains and are used for the purposes above. Third-party cookies are set by vendors whose code we load — for example an analytics provider, an error monitoring service, a payment provider’s checkout components, or an advertising network.
Those vendors receive data directly from your browser and process it under their own privacy notices, over which we have limited control. Any vendor acting as our processor is engaged under written terms. A current list of subprocessors is available on request.
Separately, when you connect a social media, analytics, advertising, commerce or payment account, and when you view content published on those platforms, the platform may set its own cookies. That is outside this policy and is governed by the platform’s own terms.
4. How to control cookies
4.1 In-product preferences
Where a cookie banner or preference centre is presented, you can accept or reject each non-essential category and change your choice at any time by reopening those preferences. Withdrawing consent is as straightforward as giving it, and takes effect for future processing.
4.2 Browser controls
All major browsers let you view, block and delete cookies, and clear local storage, through their settings or privacy sections. Many also offer a private browsing mode and tracking protection. Blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, will prevent you from signing in to NOWScale and will break core functionality. Because these settings are stored per browser and per device, you will need to repeat them on each one you use.
4.3 Vendor and platform opt-outs
Some analytics and advertising vendors offer their own opt-out mechanisms or browser add-ons, and industry bodies including the Network Advertising Initiative, the Digital Advertising Alliance and the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance operate opt-out pages for participating companies. These opt-outs are themselves usually stored in a cookie, so clearing your cookies will clear them. Connected platforms also provide their own advertising and data settings within your account on that platform.
5. Our consent model
EEA, UK and Switzerland. We ask for your consent before setting or reading any non-essential cookie or similar technology. Non-essential technologies are not activated until you have made a choice; refusing is as easy as accepting; there are no pre-ticked boxes; and we do not treat continued browsing or scrolling as consent. We record your choice and will ask again if our use changes materially, or periodically so that your preference stays current.
United States. Where state law provides an opt-out rather than an opt-in model, non-essential technologies may operate by default and you may opt out of targeted advertising and of any sale or sharing of personal information. See sections 6.7 and 10.2 of our Privacy Policy.
Elsewhere. We apply the standard required by local law and, where it is unclear, default to giving you a meaningful choice.
6. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
Global Privacy Control (GPC). GPC is a signal your browser or extension can send to tell sites you want to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. We treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out request for the browser and device that sends it, and apply it without requiring you to identify yourself. If you are signed in when we receive it, we will also apply it to your account where technically feasible.
Do Not Track (DNT). There is still no agreed industry standard for how sites should interpret a DNT header, so we do not currently respond to it. We will update this section if a common standard emerges. Use the preference controls described in section 4, or GPC, to express your choice.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the technologies we use change, when a cookie audit is completed, or when the law requires it. The date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect. Material changes to non-essential technologies will be notified in the product or by email, and where the law requires it we will ask for fresh consent rather than relying on a previous choice.
